Who Are We?

Behind Complanterra

ComplanTerra is a seed that sprouted in the mind of Romain VIDEAU, 35 years old, the founder of this entrepreneurial project. A true native of Bordeaux, Romain holds a Master’s degree in Wine & Spirits Sales Management from the University of Bordeaux (IAE). Drawing on his professional experience in the wine trade both in Bordeaux and abroad — notably in Paraguay and China — he nurtured this project, driven by a desire to embark on an entrepreneurial journey and by strong ecological values. He launched ComplanTerra with his partner, Sacha LASSEUX, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Sacha, 30, comes from the Maine-et-Loire region. She holds an MBA in Wine Management and Marketing from INSEEC Bordeaux, as well as the WSET Level 4 Diploma. She began her career working for a wine importer and distributor in Vietnam. For over three years now, she has been working independently as a sommelier and wine educator, regularly collaborating with various companies, including the Cité du Vin, where she took her first steps as a freelance sommelier. At ComplanTerra, Sacha is mainly in charge of communication and tasting experiences (classes, masterclasses, and food & wine pairing dinners). From the very beginning of this venture, both Romain and Sacha made a clear and committed choice: to represent only winemakers who follow an environmentally responsible approach. All wines selected by Romain and Sacha are at minimum undergoing organic conversion; most are certified organic and/or biodynamic, with some made naturally without any additives. This decision was crucial to them, as it allows them to support and promote winemakers who have the courage and the will to work with nature, not against it — to preserve our terroirs, our Earth, with future generations in mind. Romain and Sacha have traveled across France to meet their partner winemakers — a step they see as essential to truly understanding their work, values, and wines.

Matteo

Joined the ComplanTerra team since March.

Deep down a true Mimizannais, he is joining the M2 Wine program at KEDGE this year after a promising M1 and a formative year of travelling in New Zealand. Immersed in the restaurant industry from a young age, he naturally developed a passion for gastronomy and wine

His greatest strengths? Unwavering enthusiasm, a radiant smile even on rainy days, and a gift for hospitality that runs through his veins.

Where does ComplanTerra come from?

ComplanTerra refers to 'complantation,' on one hand, which means the art of blending different grape varieties within the same plot, and 'Terra,' on the other hand, referring to our planet Earth, which we must preserve

Companion planting in the broad sense also refers to the principles of polyculture, often used in biodynamics, with the main goal of increasing biodiversity.
